20 Week Pregnancy Update-cravings, weight gain and bump pictures!

Hi all!!! My hope this pregnancy was to keep you all updated through weekly video “bump dates” on my youtube channel but things didn’t quite go as planned. The first trimester of this pregnancy slowed me down BIG TIME. I felt nauseas and tired for the first 16 weeks and spent my time napping instead of blogging. I felt somewhat feeling guilty about my slack off but the bottom line is that my sweet baby and my health need to come first. I’ve been paying good attention to my body so I haven’t had any complications like a urinary tract infection. I heard you’re more vulnerable to them when you’re pregnant so I hope it doesn’t happen to me! Anyway, instead of napping, I thought I would give you all a written update of the last 20 weeks of my pregnancy!! Cravings, weight gain, symptoms….i’ll rehash every last awesome detail.

Cravings: First let me just say- Food tastes SO much better when I’m pregnant. I find myself thinking about my next meal and snack ALL. THE. TIME. I’ve mainly been craving lots of carrots, eggs, pickles, salads, oranges and sourdough bread smothered in butter. I’ll also admit that for a week I craved starbursts and airheads. GROSS, right??? I just wrote a blog post about HOW to interpret pregnancy cravings-read more here.

Weight Gain: I’ve gained 7 pounds this pregnancy. Last pregnancy I was a VERY slow gainer in the beginning and I remember it being a concern. I’m gaining weight more easily this time around probably because my diet consists of more nourishing fats like butter and eggs.

Supplements: I’ve been taking quite a few supplements this pregnancy including this prenatal vitamin, magnesium(been holding off on this one the past few weeks-see below), dandelion root, cod liver oil, this probiotic, and an iron supplement. If you would like a full post about my supplements let me know in the comments below!

Symptoms: Exhaustion has been my #1 symptom. I look forward to Coco-nib’s nap time so that I can take a little snooze as well. At my first appointment with my midwife we found out my iron levels were low. I’ve been taking an iron supplement and I think it’s been helping. This is TMI ( so sorry…hehe) but i’ve also been struggling with really bad diarrhea*. I’ve been working with my midwife to find a cause and I’m hoping it goes away soon. If anyone experienced this during pregnancy I’d love to hear your experience.

Birth Plan: When we found out we were pregnant I immediately called my midwife from last pregnancy. She had told me last summer she was expecting another baby and of course I was thrilled for her!! With the baby coming she decided to take some time from her practice and enjoy her baby which is wonderful! Unfortunately for me that meant I needed to find a new home birth practice. She gave us a reference and we set up a consultation. We immediately clicked with our new midwife and assistant. They have been absolutely amazing and we feel extremely blessed to have found them.

Will we find out the gender: This has been the BIG question. And I can’t tell you the answer to that question. My gut tells me we are having another boy! I may confirm or deny my gut instinct with a home gender test kit soon, or should I leave it as a surprise? Do you have a guess???

Last but not least the BUMP!!!

    Hello and Congratulations!

You look beautiful. I wish you smooth months ahead. I think you are having a girl 🙂 I would like to know if you have issues with swollen feet? I had horrible swollen feet throughout the whole pregnancy. What could be the cause for if. I would like to avoid it if/ when baby #2 comes. Thank you and God bless ur family.

    • Oh! thank you for stopping by!!
I take dandelion root daily to keep swelling down. I take one pill for every month I am. So if I’m 5 months pregnant I take 5 pills. I’m not a doctor so make sure you talk to your care provider first but it has helped me a ton! God bless you 🙂
